“I can’t breathe!”: Fans react to the Spice Girls’ impromptu reunion

The Spice Girls have reunited, and fans are freaking out.

On 20 April, Victoria Beckham rung in her 50th birthday with a celebratory bash at the members-only London club, Oswald.

While the star-studded gathering was kept under wraps for the most part, one moment from the evening made its way to social media, thanks to Victoria’s husband, David Beckham.

Taking to his Instagram account, the former football star uploaded a video of his wife alongside her Spice Girls bandmates – Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Melanie C and Emma Bunton  – as they delivered a lip-sync performance of their hit song ‘Stop.’

“I mean, come on,” David gushed in his caption.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the group’s rare and epic reunion to go viral on social media, resulting in fans understandably freaking out.

One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, stressed the significance of the video, writing: “I need everyone to understand how important it is to me that all 5 of them are together.”

Another fan echoed similar sentiments, tweeting: “I’m actually crying. I need them to go on tour, all 5, just one more time.”

A third fan added: “The way I watched this without sound and new the exact words bless you Mr Beckham for documenting herstory.”

Lastly, Victoria reposted the video on her Instagram account, describing her birthday as the “best night ever” before adding, “I love you all so much! #SpiceUpYourLife.”

The Spice Girls reunion comes a few weeks after Mel B confirmed on The Jennifer Hudson Show that they were working on new material.

“I’m such a blabbermouth. I get told off all the time for announcing stuff that I’m not meant to announce. But what I can say is we’re definitely working on something together – all five of us,” she revealed.

“And by me just saying that, I’m probably going to get into trouble again.”

While fans will likely have to wait a bit longer for an official announcement, the rumoured reunion would be the first time all five Spice Girls have come together since the 2012 Summer Olympics.

In 2019, the ladies sans Victoria embarked on their sold-out Spiceworld Tour across the UK and Ireland, which concluded with a three-night appearance at Wembley Stadium.
